Revving Up for Development at New Porsche Dealership in Markham

Headquartered in Stuttgart, Germany and owned by Volkswagen AG, Porche’s sports cars, sedans, and other vehicles are all well-known around the world. Asked what they think of when they think of a Porsche, some might say ‘luxury,' ‘high-performance,' or ‘power.' More expert folks might bring up naturally aspirated engines, manual transitions, or active suspension management systems. Environmentalists, in turn, might mention The Porsche Mission E, the company's first fully electric car, unveiled at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. Others still, somewhat puzzled by the question, might cite actress, Portia De Rossi from the popular television series, Arrested Development. There are no wrong answers here.

Porsche’s development and innovation extends beyond the usual mainstream consumer automobiles. The company has produced many racing cars, hybrid and electric cars (including concept cars such as the Mission E mentioned above), aircraft vehicles, military tanks, and even tractors. Yes, tractors. If you want, next time you sing the children’s song, ‘Old MacDonald,’ you can throw in that on that farm he had a Porsche. It’s possible!

While often associated with wealth and prestige, the Porsche company also employs thousands of reliable factory workers, salespersons, and mechanics worldwide. After record-breaking sales in 2016, the company celebrated by giving a bonus of €9,111 to each of their roughly 21, 000 home-country employees in Germany (a suave reference to their famous sports car, the Porsche 911). That's equivalent to about 12, 132 Canadian dollars; not bad. The company is not merely a benefit to those with cufflinks and cappuccino machines.

MGI is happy to be working in partnership with Porsche currently, with our current subgrade project for a new dealership located at 5000 Highway 7 East in Markham, at the north-east portion of Markville Mall plaza. The project involves supply, place, grade and compact fill, delivered over the 1.85-acre development site to prepare for building construction for the new dealership. We are excited to be involved in this project and—like the cars on this lot—we're revved up and ready to work!
