Progress on a Roll at Volvo Dealership in Unionville

As we all know, technology changes fast. If you're still riding a horse to work, we respect your old-school aesthetic, but most folks are generally now using motor vehicles—either public or personally owned—to travel and commute.

Speaking of old school, the name ‘Volvo’ is actually a Latin word coming from the verb, ‘volvere,’ meaning ‘to roll.’ As the present first-person singular conjugation, the literal meaning of ‘volvo’ is, therefore, ‘I roll.’ This fact naturally raises the question of whether a broken-down Volvo is really a Volvo at all...is it lying to us?

:

Philosophers may never answer this question because Volvos rarely break down. Projected to be ‘death-proof’ by 2020 by CEO, Håkan Samuelsson, the Volvo is a sure bet for a well-built, safe, and reliable automobile for drivers and their families everywhere.

Indeed, many of the fun facts about Volvo involve the company’s renowned safety-system innovation record:

·      In 1959, Volvo was the first car to introduce both the two- and three-point safety belts.

·      In 1987, Volvo was the first to add pre-tensioners to their belts as well.

·      In 1987, Volvo was the first car company to sell vehicles with airbags.

Frankly, we wouldn’t be surprised if they invented the bike helmet, too! The history of motor-vehicle safety is a history of Volvos rolling out one innovation after another.

The company has done well for Canada, too. The first Volvo assembly plant outside of Sweden opened in Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1963. Since then, it has steadily created good jobs for Haligonians and helped them to put nutritious Donaires and Alexander Keith’s India Pale Ales on their families’ tables every night.

Back in the Markham Unionville area today, Volvo is ultimately providing work for MGI’s team as well. Our current project at 4080 Hwy 7 East Unionville includes the demolition of a two-storey Volvo dealership and service shop built in 2005. At the same site, we are also capping existing utilities and supplying and installing temporary storm and sanitary sewers for the adjacent Audi dealership we recently gave word about!
